Big transformations don’t always start big. Often, it’s the smallest edits that shift how a space feels. In this recently refreshed Mission Hills project, one of the most impactful changes began right at the front door.

The stairs, once weighed down with carpet and trim, were simplified with a curving white oak handrail and slender balusters. Now, the entry feels open and easy, offering a lighter first step into a familiar home made new. (Before + after pictured below).

Just beyond the entry, the dining room quietly evolved. A custom arched bar nook was tucked into what was once garage wall space, bringing new dimension and purpose. A pendant was removed to let the bar take the lead, while layered lighting shifts with the time of day. The original table remains, simply recontextualized.
