Last month, we introduced a new series, Inside the Timeline. You can revisit our first step, Before the Beginning, here.

A successful project is built on a thoughtful team. The architect establishes the vision, the contractor executes the plan, and your designer ensures every decision works in harmony with the way you live. When we’re brought in early, we help shape the sequence: which professional to hire first, when to bring in the contractor for initial pricing, and how to keep everyone aligned from day one. Clear coordination at the outset protects the project from missteps later on.
Hawk Heights is a study in true collaboration. Beginning with a fully demolished top two floors in a historic high-rise, we worked in close partnership with the architect and cabinetmaker to reimagine two levels anchored by an immovable row of brick chimneys and concrete columns. Instead of fighting these structural constraints, or the preservation mandates that protected the original arched windows and doors, we allowed them to guide the design, wrapping the central “spine” in ebony-stained rift-sawn oak casework that quietly organizes private living spaces around it. What emerged is a home that feels intentional and open, shaped not despite its limitations, but because of them.
Check back next month for a look into next project phase, Function before Finishes.
