Senior Interior Designer / Project Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
As an Interior Designer, we expect a dedicated, passionate, enthusiastic and experienced professional with a strong background in interior design and interior architecture to join our team in creating unique and well-designed spaces for luxury homes and a variety of other projects. This position manages the execution and coordination of design projects in coordination with the client, contractors, vendors and design team. This position will be responsible for developing and presenting creative design concepts, solution-based plans for the customer in the areas of space planning, furnishings, color and materials application, project documentation, as well as internal graphic and verbal presentations to ensure delivery and execution are completed in a satisfactory manner.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- 7-10 years design experience
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
- Work in a precise, organized, professional manner, with acute awareness of time frames and deadlines
- Must be a self-motivated team member in support of the design reputation of LSID
- Must have excellent customer service skills, with verbal and written communication skills – strong interpersonal skills and will be required to interact with potential clients, existing clients, internal staff, sales reps and vendors
- Extensive experience in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Extensive experience in Revit, Enscape as well as Photoshop, and InDesign
- Must be able to generate design concepts and ideas independently, and be capable to successfully communicate to team and clients
- Must be motivated to work in an environment that is highly detail-oriented, committed to quality, and providing the highest-end service to our clients
JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist and support all project teams as required
- Conduct programming and needs analysis
- Simultaneously manage multiple, complex projects and furniture orders from start to finish and identify ways to meet the clients’ needs most effectively, constantly multi-tasking
- Develop and deliver graphic presentation materials and design documentation for architectural interiors, including visuals using various software programs, and physical samples
- Develop creative designs that consider ergonomics, codes, ADA, safety, client function and aesthetics
- Assist in concept/ style/ and color palette development
- Prepare and participate in client presentations and meetings, prepare agendas and meeting notes
- Contribute to all stages of the design process: conceptual design, schematic design, design development, construction documents, move-in/ installation, art consulting, and post-occupancy “from conceptual to pillows”
- Find creative, reliable solutions thru research and creativity
- Translate design concepts into construction documents and details using Revit/SketchUp/Enscape (typicals, details, furniture plans, lighting plans, RCP, 3D’s, construction drawings etc.) for a range of projects
- Identify areas that need field verification and coordinate actual dimensions with final plan. Inventory existing conditions and furnishings
- Create + review specifications, including key schedules and tagging
- Manage or assist in the selection and specification of creative and unique materials, lighting, furniture, accessories, art, fabrics, equipment, plumbing fixtures, appliances, window treatments
- Work with vendors on the selection of standard pieces, coordinate custom designed pieces, and adhere to expected details, design and quality
- Coordinate with outside fabricators, consultants and vendors to negotiate prices, gather quotes, prepare client quotes with precision, review custom items, and provide oversight to meet LSID expectations
- Manage client interaction, expectations, and decisions
- Create a timeline for the interior design projects, estimate project costs, budgets, provide consistent updates to design and building teams
- Conduct site (and vendor shop) visits to ensure quality fabrication, construction and installation
- Overview furniture + material procurement paperwork process: vendor pricing, purchase approvals, purchase orders, invoices, final payment
- Manage the logistics of shipping / delivery of items for installation in accordance to time frame
- Prepare installation drawings and supporting documents (specs)
- Inventory existing product; create inventory list, and incorporate in furniture plans and specifications
- Work within timely schedules to coordinate the completion of tasks through to final project files
- Maintenance of internal reporting systems, i.e. time sheets and project files
- Continuing education related to product updates and industry trends
- Provide the highest level of service to our clients in every aspect of the interior design process
- 30-40 hours/ week. Preferably in-studio, with a flexible, yet consistent schedule
