Sometimes it’s hard to put just one label on talent. Sofia Varanka Hudson is a multi-faceted entrepreneur with over 20 years’ experience in space planning and furniture design. Her store, Hudson Home, thrived in Kansas City’s Crossroads neighborhood for over a decade. It specialized in North American furniture designers, giving her clients access to companies that hadn’t been widely available in the Midwest before.

Sofia is a graduate of Parsons School of Design, where she earned a BFA in Furniture and Product design. She has worked on custom furniture planning, lighting, and design projects for multiple prestigious venues including Citi Field, Levi Stadium, United Center and Nemacolin Resort & Spa. She is equally at home in residential spaces, where she provides clients with space planning, furniture selections and lighting design.

Her passion for good taste extends to the kitchen. Sofia founded a bespoke baked goods company – Swoon Cookie Crafters – in 2007, creating delicious confections that maintain a loyal fan base from the shop in the Kansas City’s Columbus Park neighborhood. Sofia’s eclectic background (her family is from Poland; she was born in Guatemala and has immediate family from Ireland and Spain) influenced her adventurous disposition. She gives back to the community as a board member of Les Dames D’Escoffier KC and a volunteer at Pete’s Garden. She and her husband are raising a high-spirited teenager and always have a few Whippet rescues running around. When she’s not working, you’ll find her traveling to explore new destinations and listening to amazing playlists along the way.
